The Holiday Quicksand

Consistency is often associated with progress and success. Many of us go into these holiday weeks with the mentality that we are going to eat a storm during the family functions and company parties and get back into the grind as the new year gets in but sometimes it isn't that simple. If you're someone that has been consistent with your fitness and your nutrition you know that it only takes just a tiny nudge to get completely off track. Whether you just miss a day or 2 of working out or eating an extra cookie, that little "cheat" gets you way off track and gets you into the early stages of what I like to call the "Holiday Quicksand Effect"

The Holiday Quicksand Effect is pretty simple, from the first workout missed to that extra plate of food you get one foot deeper into that quicksand. The earlier you catch yourself the easier it is to get out. The more you miss workouts and the more foods you eat out of the ordinary makes it hard for you to get out of it when it's time to get the beastmode on. Be careful and don't get trapped in the quicksand!

Now you might be thinking
" Man, so you're saying we don't get to have fun!!"
Of course not!! The holidays are all about fun! But during these holidays you shoud be more aware of your body than ever. That's what this whole fitness thing is about, listening to your body in order to progress towards your goals. If you take an extra piece of mother's holiday ribeye roast then take note and go a little harder in your next training session. Feeling a bit too tired or lazy? Get your energy back up by eating the right foods to get your mojo back for even a lite workout later in the day. There is always a way to stay on track. Surviving the holidays is the best challenge for your body and your mind. Own that challenge and watch the positive changes take place physically and mentally. Happy holidays!

TAC Fitness & Nutrition Meal Prep December 23

Even though it's Christmas week a number of my TAC Foodies opted to stay on their program. Of course this made me happy! I can't wait to get this food out to you all!

The holidays are a time to spend with family. Sharing laughs and creating memories, it doesn't necessarily mean eat a horse ton of food but it does bring us together. Whether your sticking to your normal healthy eating habits or indulging in a feast just remember the reason you're surrounded by all these people during the holidays. Although food brings us together LOVE keeps us together!

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Wonderful New Year!!

The Fitness Program

The TAC Fitness & Nutrition Training Program enables the individual to get closer to their goals through training sessions. As an NASM Certified Personal Trainer, I am able to create the right training program for each individual getting them to their goals in an effective manner.

Although bodyweight is a great tool for individuals with little equipment, I also use the TRX suspension trainer, Medicine balls, BOSU balls, plyo boxes as well as resistance training aids. Each training session does not have to be done at a brick and mortar location, I am traveling trainer and sessions can be done at any location from open field parks to playgrounds. The world is my gym!

As an athlete in swimming, basketball, various martial arts, triathlons and other sports and activities, I am able to breakdown sport specific movements and create exercises to increase performance in your sport. Formerly obese, I am aware of the physical and mental struggles of getting in shape and being healthy. As your trainer it is my responsibility to educate and execute the right mindset for you to live a healthier happier lifestyle.

TAC Fitness & Nutrition is here to help you achieve your fitness goals, whether its losing weight or body fat, gaining muscle mass, training for races or overall better performance in your sport. For more information contact Coach Carl at taclifestyle@gmail.com.

The Meal Plan Program

The TAC Fitness & Nutrition meal plan program enables an individual to eat cleaner and healthier to reach their goals. It also teaches the individual by showing them how eating healthy and clean doesn’t have to be boring and dull. The big picture is a better lifestyle for you to enjoy every moment in life.

We change the menu every month and have up to 4 dishes for each meal time. They are all custom prepped to the needs and goals of the client whether it be for an athlete, student, parent or even the time crunched businessman/woman. All programs include some sort of snack or 2 for each day you purchase meals. We keep it as simple as possible.

Here are a few option from our December 2013 menu:

BREAKFAST 1: Spicy Patty with Eggs in a Flatbread and Greek Yogurt Sauce.
BREAKFAST 2: Ground Turkey and Baked Eggs with Naan Bread.
LUNCH 1: Shrimp Lettuce Wraps
LUNCH 2: Baked Chicken Tenders with Corn on the Cob.
DINNER 1: Green Bean and Mandarin Oranges Salad with a Citrus Vinaigrette
